TIPS for Class XII students-Section B

TIPS for Class XII students-Section B

Dear all,
In your Exam paper of English Core, Section B carries 30 marks. It consists of four Writing works
1. Short Composition of 4 Marks (any two out of Notice, Poster Making, Advertisement or Invitation)
2. Long Composition of 6 Marks (Normally a letter out of Letter to the Editor/Authority, Making an Enquiry, Placing an Order or Letter of Complaint)
3. Long Composition of 10 Marks ( Normally an article writing work)
4. Long Composition of 10 Marks ( Either writing a Speech for the Assembly or a debate for/against the motion on a given topic or an application for Job)

All the above works are high scoring. Because they carry separate marks for the whole writing work:
a) FORMAT  1/2 mark
b) CONTENT or SUBJECT MATTER  2/4 mark
c) EXPRESSION or FLUENCY 2/4 mark

If you want, you can attempt answering the B section at the end
It will help you in two ways.
1st- You have already answered the Section A & Section C (i.e. 30+40=70 marks)
2nd- If you answer the first two questions quickly, then during the last half an hour also, you can attempt answering the last two questions. The more satisfactorily you complete the work, the more you will score.
Remember, during the last one hour of your exam, you can write the FASTEST. So you can answer an article and the speech/debate easily in 15+15=30 minutes. All the students run short of time during the last one hour of any exam.

So, do the following to prepare well for Section B
1. Revise all the formats of Notice, Advertisement, Invitation, Letters, Article, Speech, Debate etc.
2. Try to answer at least two each of all the above types.
3. In case of advertisement, cover TO LET, FOR SALE, SITUATION VACANT, EDUCATIONAL etc.
4. Answer both FORMAL & INFORMAL Invitation at least 2 each.
4. Write down all types of LETTERS. You can take up any one question paper of 1st and 2nd Pre Board or CBSE Board Exam of previous years.
5. Read some details about some recent and relevant topics. For example, Discipline, Mobile Phone, Exercise & Yoga, Weighty School Bags, Use of Internet-Bane or Boon, Practice of Non-violence, Swatch Bharat-Swastha Bacche etc.
6. Do practice by WRITING again and again.
7. Avoid writing long sentences.
8. Break the write up in 2/3 paragraphs.
9. It will also speed up your writing. You will be able to write quite faster in a few days.
10. Your preparation will never go wasted. It will surely help you in answering all the questions in TIME.

BEST OF LUCK
